Bike Storage - two bikes in tiny hallway

I'm on the hunt for the perfect bike storage for my new flat.
We have a small space at the bottom of the stairs which is where the previous residents kept their bike on a wall mounted rack. We however have two bikes- one used everyday and one used at weekends that we need access to. I've looked at poles where one bike sits above the other but the issue with this is that both myself and my flatmate aren't very tall (5"1 and 5"5) so wouldn't be able to reach the top bike, is there some kind of storage that could work round this, bringing the top bike down to a more reasonable level before removal?
If not can someone please invent this!

Put the smaller bike on the bottom. Lower the top bike mount as low as you can. Sorted.0

Could you store them vertically next to each other flat(ish) against the wall using a couple of big hooks?
Maybe take the front wheel out so you can turn the handlebars 90 degrees.0 -

Do you have room for a couple of these? I use three of these close together.0 -
