Slightly different light request. My seat tube is bi-ovalised so the Leznye micro-drive that I've got doesn't fit properly, the hard bit of the mount has too wide a diameter. Can anyone recommend something that's more likely to fit? Anything with a circular bracket is out...

Moon Shield? - about £35. Strap is rubber, so ovoid/rhomboid/cuboid all good-to-go.
This, plus the MS is a great rear light, bright as 'heck' and with an internal rechargeable battery it's light and conveniant.

Not sure about long-term durability - had one warranty replacement after the clip broke, but I had been using it on the saddlepack. Have now superglued it into the bracket to avoid losing it; the rubber bung onthe charging socket has been replaced with a swatch of electrical tape. However, it is brighter and smaller than a mate's flare and I get a full week's commuting from it (4-5 hours).

Does it not suffer the same issue as lights like the Exposure Flare; the strap may be rubber but the back of the light is either rounded or flat so when mounted on a seat post that isn't curved it just gets pulled to one side?

I haven't a flat section on any of my bikes to test, but I'd reckon that the high friction of the wide strap (rubber all the way around) would keep it secure on the edges of the bar, rather than the flimsy thin rubber band and shaped plastic "cup" of the Flare.

MS stayed put on my aero post, until it jumped off into the undergrowth one day, never to be seen again. It didn't like the poor road surface, apparently. Other than that, it was a super light. You could also clip it to the saddlebag light loop, if your bag has one.

    Which bike mounts Sketch?

Something like this http://dx.com/p/mount-holder-clip-clamp ... lack-57322 although I play with a couple before I found an ideal one, all depends no size of handlebars etc.

note I ordered the lot for dealtime, torch, batteries, charger and mounts. Took about 21 days to delivery but no problems.

This setup looks great but a little high maintenance/inconvenient for what I'm after.

These look ideal to me. Anyone use them?

Yeah, as I said above. Using a Macro Front/Micro rear. They're available as a set. They'll cover you for most in town stuff, including actual night-time (not dusk) riding. Spare mounts run about a fiver each if you have a few bikes.

They're not the cheapest or brightest, but they're robust and pretty effective.

I had a look at the broken Exposure Flare that I've got (thanks to the wife for dropping it) and it looks like it would be a perfect fit. Unfortunately as I said, its broken. I played around with it for a bit and then stuck the battery onto charge, but what's this? It won't charge. Hmm, I wonder if the battery is borked instead of the light?

Try sanding the electrical contacts in the light - they corrode easily.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Charged up the Leyzene Micro Drive last night.

It appears to have died. Is this type of thing normal where a re-chargable light has been sat in a draw doing nothing for 5 months?

Might be contact points with the USB...

The battery wouldn't charge in the charger, nothing to do with the light. I'm going to get another rechargeable CR123 and see if that fixes it. I'll be a happy bunny if it does, plus I'll have a rear micro-drive for sale.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and i'll take the micro - drive off you if you sell (subject to mine not being fixable).

I've got a couple of spare Exposure rechargeables. You can pop by and grab one next time you're in RP if you like. I might even remember to charge it for you.

    OK.
  • Got both the Lezyne USB rechargable jobby with the super hi daylight setting and the mini micro one aswell (rear.
The USB is fab but only lasts a couple of hours on bright setting and about 3.5 on normal.
The mini is brilliant, lasts hours and is good for long rides. Bought a load of cheap cells on Ebay and easy to replace.
Both are easey to mount dismount, but the micro wins it.
best commuter front light on strobe is the Smart Lunar £35 for about £20 (ebay)

Best all terrain pitch dark in the woods light is this from China. About the size of a golf ball. Used it at the Dunwich Dynamo and out shone everything and the beam is adjustable. Cost £22 and arrived withinn 2 weeks.
Bought loads of lights and this def the best:
