Giant SCR Headset Problems

Hi,

I know this won't be the first time this has been discussed so bear with me......

I'm trying to replace a headset on a Giant SCR and I have an FSA No.11 AGY, but the crown race seems to have a bevelled bottom edge presumably to help with future removal - see pic below.

The original race (which is lesser in height) had a flat bottom edge and allowed the fork/frame gap to be about 1mm less and be a lot more asthetically pleasing.

I'm pretty sure FSA races H6018 and H6062 are the same dimensions, but one has the flat bottom edge and one has the bevelled bottom edge - can anyone confirm this ?????

From reading the net, this problem seems to occur quite a lot on various bikes and I think the height of the crown race has a lot to answer for.

Any thoughts or ideas people?

Thanks,

Pat.

Forgot to mention that with the No.11, there was a metal spacer which I pressume goes around the crown race to fill this unsightly gap, only it's a fraction too thick, binds and doesn't fully allow the lower bearings to drop onto the crown race.
