But the actual training stress is the same on the body, just it will feel harder mentally and physically when fatigued.
The fatigued muscles and cardiovascular system have done the same amount of work as measured in watts yes. But those fatigued muscles and cardiovascular system have had to work harder to produce the same power - this is why it feels harder both physically and mentally. If it feels hard it is hard.
In my opinion 300 watts fresh stresses the body and mind less than 300 watts when fatigued.
As to which has the biggest training benefit that is another question or set of questions.
Yes that is true, but the actual training stresses are likely to be very similar, adaption etc might be different, but TSS is not a measure of adaption, or how hard a session is. Like you say later not all TSS is created equally a 100 TSS Z2 training stress is different to a 100TSS Z4 training stress and adaptions would be different, but for what TSS measures they are very similar to a degree. TSS is just a gauge you personally have to measure the body stress response in how you feel.0 -

Yes thanks and understood.
My own system is a measure of how hard a session is, and I also measure the work done in watts.0 -

Does Yates think TSS and Performance manager is crap or Sky don't know how to use it?
Yates reveals that he is not impressed with Team Sky’s current management and that the only member of the team set-up he is still close to is sports director Nicolas Portal.
“To be brutally honest, there is no one at Sky who knows much about bike riding."
“In general, this year especially, the guys running the team don’t know enough about bike-riding and a lot of the riders went into the Tour overtired. They are made to race too much, too long, too hard.”
Yates revealed he has had offers to join other teams but seems happy to have stepped away and because he believes Chris Froome will dominate the sport for years to come.0 -
:? is this supposed to highlight the inadequacy of the TSS concept? I think Sky's showing in the 2013 TdF is generally considered to have been successful.0

If you take Froome out of it, you must admit Sky have been poor this year.
Yates is probably just a bit bitter but he has a very high opinion of Froome.0
