Anyone used any of their maps, or is everyone Garmin 800'ed up?
I am contemplating a little bit of touring and as I have the direction skills of a demented moth traped in a green house full of high powered lamps, I would like to take a map and use the NCN heading up towards Cambridge and Norfolk (from South Herts).
NCN 12 and 51 I think, so was thinking of getting one of the maps (to save battery life on the blower). Any thoughts or should I just wing it and see what happens knowing that this is England and not the desert and getting lost is impossible.

One of the issues I have with the NCN routes around here is that they do wander off the expected path and can have multiple arrows giving you (unexpected) alternatives.
If you're worried about battery life btw, do what I do and get a 5Ah (might even be 5.6) backup battery. I plug my phone into it when I'm long (for me) rides. It runs down the external battery before the phone. Works like a charm.

Don't expect paths everywhere, it's just a road.0
