Pain at top of leg/front front of hip

now ive just got back on the bike after an accident a couple of months back, with my wrist tendons finally having recovered, in that time i have been regularly running a few miles each day 5 times a week, and doing the occasional 35 mile hike every other wkend, with no issues bar the odd bout of mild shin splints when i push to hard running, that are cured by a couple of days rest.
ive commuted to the next train station over since monday, to get some time back on the bike, just 8 miles there and back, but now when walking briskly and running in the evenings this week the top of my right leg, at the front, pretty much where the leg joins the torso, so the front of the hip, hurts. it doesnt hurt when cycling only when i run or walk and its not severe. its not really a sharp pain or an achy pain, its just a pain, quite difficult to explain. it doesnt hurt when sitting or standing, only when running/walking fast.
i have no idea what it is, and wonder if anyone has any similar experience/pain in that area. i suspect its something to do with getting back on the bike, as its too much of a coincidence that its only started since i started riding this week again.
any ideas?

Tight hip flexors maybe? If you do a quick search for psoas stretches, and feel the stretch in the same place as the soreness, that might be it.0

I hope you start feeling better soon, but would you not be better talking to a doctor or a physio about your problems? Considering you can get 100 different conclusions to a bike noise or fault, not sure a load of non medically qualified people on a forum are the best people to trust with your health0

no its very mild, so not going to waste the time of the doc for no reason at this stage. im guessing its as my body is unused to cycling for a couple of months, so the action of pedaling has caused it (even though i dont feel it when pedalling). so just wondered in non expert terms if people, from their own expereince, had anything similar after longish breaks of non cycling0 -

I understand you may not think its serious enough to take to a doctor, but how can you be certain? One person cannot simply say, "oh yeah, I get the same pain" and it be the same ailment. I am not you and you are not me. What could be a slight headache in one person could be a tumour the size of a golfball in another. I know thats a wild example but its to say that comparing twinges and pains with another is no way to treat the symptoms.0 -

That's rather a blinkered view if you don't mind me saying so and I speak from experience. I suffered with niggling pain around the knee that following an MRI scan, suggested the hip was the cause. When I do longish hill walks, I get pain in the groin area of the same leg. Not agonising just niggling aching. After months of ignoring the pain, it has gotten worse to the point of constant pain and a noticeable issue with my gait and pedalling action as I tire. Visiting the physiotherapist now for a long haul process of checking all the hip abductors/flexors to identify if it is the muscles around the hip or a bone structure issue. Get to the specialist early.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -

its not niggling, ive never had it before, ive had it for 3 days...now its all well and good wasting the docs time and taking an appointment from a more needy patient, but im not going to after 3 days. if its still there after a week or 2 then i will. i was merely after people opinions on what it could be. i have free private medical cover anyway so its not as if physio or specilaist would cost me anything, but after 3 days its jumping the gun a bit imo for somethign that will likely clear up in a bit.0
