Only recently got back into the game, was riding about on an old beater that i cobbled together with all the old spares i dragged out of the loft, I got the taste for it again so i decided to invest in a decent DH rig without bankrupting myself.
After a lot of looking round i decided to get a used Scalp frame that was in my local bike shop(not sure if its an 2011 or 2012) then built up from there.
Current spec stands as.
Pics:
Frame: Nukeproof Scalp with CCDB Coil
Forks: Rockshox Boxxer 2010
Bars: Renthal Fatbar 38mm rise
Stem: Blackspire Das Stem
Headset: Hope
Grips: some ODI ruffian copies(cheap but work just as well)
Front Brake: Hope Tech M4 Evo 203mm
Rear Brake: Hope Tech M4 Evo 203mm
Shifter: Some Sram 8 speed shifter from the bottom of my spares bin...
Cables: Clarks gear cable
Rear Mech: SLX shadow+ Long cage(temporary)
Chain Device: Blackspire CX4(i think)
Seat: Charge Spoon
Seat Post: Raceface respond
Seat Clamp: unbranded.
Cranks: Shimano Zee
Chainring(s): Shimano Zee 36t
Chain: Sram something or other
Cassette: Shimano 8 speed(again, dragged from the pile of old spares)
Pedals: 24seven Slack Pedals(Trusty old pedals have been on every bike i've had since the turn of the century)
Bottom Bracket: Hope
Front Wheel: Hope Hoops Pro 2 Evo / Mavic EN521
Rim: EN521
Spokes: black sapim
Hub: Hope Pro 2 evo
Tube: Whatever cheap DH tubes that CRC were selling
Tire: Maxxis Minion DHF 2.5 super tacky Exo
Back Wheel: Hope Hoops Pro 2 Evo / Mavic EX729
Rim: EX729
Spokes: black sapim
Hub: Hope Pro 2 evo
Tube: Whatever cheap DH tubes that CRC were selling
Tire: Maxxis Minion DHF 2.5 super tacky Exo
Weight: Not got an accurate weight yet, but it dosnt feel particularly heavy.
Still got plenty to work on, My priorities are having the fork serviced/tuned and to get the drivetrain up to standard as i cheaped out on the build so i could get riding sooner, very interested in SRAM X00/X01 11spd, but this will have to wait a couple of months till i can gather the required fortune.
also not 100% happy with Chain device, thinking of just getting an E*Thirteen and ditching Bashguard.

Looks good in the white/black colourscheme. Is that your Quattro in your avatar?0

Very nice. Scalps are really great DH bikes, so easy to ride fast. Looks like a nice build.
Why would you want to fit 11 speed on a DH bike? The gears you would gain are far too low for a DH bike and I don't think it will work with a chain device.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Very fair point, i just liked the thought of having a wider range of gears, maybe better of with a saint or an X0 setup we will see when it comes to it.
Quattro did belong to me, 1988 UrQuattro MB, however sold it some time ago, just havnt got round to changing my avatar.0 -
I prefer a close ratio, road style cassette for downhill.
As much as I generally dislike SRAM the X0 DH kit is actually very good.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
