Right, my Birthday is coming up and the wife's given me a £250 allowance to spend on Cycling Clothes. So these shoes are on offer at £119/90 approx, but which ones to get ? Are the R1's worth the extra £20 in all honesty over the R3's ?
Thanks for any suggestions. (Think the rest of my allowance will go DHB Bib Shorts and a Torm jersey)

The R1s come with SIDAS footbeds I think so you'd have to find a shop that wouldn't mind fitting them for you even though you hadn't bought them there (assuming you're buying on-line for that price).0

Must that be done by a specialist ??0

I went for the R3 over the R1 as the black front wont mark as easy ! The R3's are actually very slightly lighter as well, have the same sole and tbh you wont notice any difference. their totally different look wise to my Sidi but fit similar....recommended0

R1s are all kangaroo leather, the R3s just have a strip at the front and the heel, the rest is plastic. The SIDAS foot bed moulding is optional. They both have high foot arches.
Can anybody tell me why the market is flooded with cheap 2012 Fizik shoes and there are hardly any 2013? 2012 R1s were £300.00 up until 3 months ago, Sigma called them the Classic model.Pegoretti

I wouldn't buy Fizik shoes on the sole reason they use kangaroo leather, there's no need to use animal hide on cycling shoes for heaven's sake, quite disgusting imo. just my opinion.0

As I understand it, the leather is sourced from the annual 'Roo cull so the animals are being killed anyway to control numbers. Better to put it to some use, no?Coach H. (Dont ask me for training advice - 'It's not about the bike')0 -
Wouldnt bother me in all honesty, sorry just the way I am - Now where's my Frankie Boyle tapes !
Thanks for all the other comments anyway0 -
Have you noticed PlanetX have just dropped their R3 (and R3 SL) prices again? Might make your mind up for you.0

I went with R3 over the R1.
The carbon buckle broke on the first fit on the R1s so sent them back and got the r3.
Lovely shoes by far away the best shoes I've owned even better than SIDI.0 -
Can those who have Sidi and now these Fizik's please tell me how the sizes match up, ie is a 44 in a sidi equal to a 44 in a Fizik?
More interested in the R3 than the R1,
Cheers

I recently bought a pair of R3's from PX, read as much advice as I could find on line so ordered the same size as I would wear in most regular shoes, trainers, football boots etc which is a 43 and they were spot on. Previously I have always worn Shimano and bought 44s. One word of caution is that the Fizik has quite high arch support, it's taken a few rides to get the cleat position right but now I have they are so comfortable.0

43 in sidi was too small for me, had to have 44's, but 43 in Fizik fits perfectly.
Was a bit concerned when the fizik box stated UK 8.5 when I opened package, but they fit well and I'm a Size 9.
I have The R3
Hope that helps0 -

As for the sin of making cycling shoes from leather, the same could be applied to any shoe.Pegoretti
