A friend of mine would like to get a women's road bike which she can attach panniers to. She's looking at an Evans bike which has a partial Tiagra group, carbon forks and 6061 alu frame for about £750, although she says she can get a discount. Are there any better deals out there that anyone is aware of?

Although it's a bit more expensive and I dunno if it takes panniers.
  • There aren't many women's bikes that take a rack mount and don't look uber girly. I struggled earlier this year and gave it up as a bad job and decided to wait for the 2014 options or hope for a dearer bike to still be available when my Cyclescheme opens again in Sept.

Does depend on her height as to whether she's limited to women's bikes. At the 5'3" mark they start to become possibilities but only in certain brands.

If she wants it now, that's about what I've seen too. If she drops to Sora (old style), there are a few Treks in the 600s that have rack mounts. Otherwise, it might be worth taking a flyer on waiting to see if any reduce any more?

Thanks all. This is the bike she's looking at. Expects to get another 20 percent off that too. Could be the best option

So long as you're not moving house with the panniers, you could fit them with P clips rather than limit yourself to only frames with mounts.

My wife has a Specialised Dolce and that has pannier points and mudguard points. She rather likes her bike.
