maxxis high roller alternative

Hi all, I currently have the above tyre on the rear of my bike with an ardent on the front. High roller is a 2.1 . Really like this setup but I'm getting loads of punch flats in the rear. Had four yesterday on the beast at brenin which ended my ride with a four mile walk back to the centre. What alternative would be good with regards to fast rolling light weight tyre but which would offer more protection against pinch flats? Many thanks, Chris.

A higher volume tyre with a bit more air in will make a big difference, Highrollers are on the small side for their given measurement, 2.35s look more like 2.2s.

More air or stop riding hard into edges.

  • go tubeless, no more pinches unless you split the tyre

Yes there is a cost but it is well worth it not punctured in 3 years of riding a hardtail up the lake district.

The three before me have covered everything, simply changing your tyres won't make a difference.

Either increase your air pressure, go tubeless or stop hitting edges so hard.
