PTFE cable coating is it worth it

I'm about to replace my brake and gear cables and notice that PTFE coated cables are a little bit more expensive than stainless steel. Is it worth the additional cost? I've read some where that the coating can come off and gum up the cable guide or outer creating problems. Cheers

stick with ss, it just works

i've used gore ride-on, within a few months the coating strripped and clogged in the liner, might be ok with a fully sealed system, but otherwise i'd avoid
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

They're a pain. The coating wears off where you don't want it to, and makes clamping the cables up a chore cos they want to slip. Never again.

Thanks very much for the responses. I'll stick with SS.
