Need to replace my pedal that came free on my new bike, they are Welgos, very poor quality, heavy and I want to upgrade them.

I have found these and would like some feedback.

http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/exustar- ... 60603.html

Exustar Mtb Pedal E Pb525
•Lightweight 183 grams per pedal.
•Annodized extruded CNC machined 6061 aluminium body.
•CNC machined Cr-Mo axle.
•LSL bushing and sealed cartridge bearings.
•Removable pins, 10 pins per side.
•Size 103mm x 100mm.
•Weight 183 grams per pedal.
•Colour Annodized Black.

Has anybody seen, heard of or maybe even used these pedals?

Ta :)

Superstar pedals are the best budget ones you can buy, just look at all the great reviews, highly recommend them

Otherwise it's the good old DMR V8s

  • Cant help on those pedals but you might want to consider these,

From the link above, Im guessing your after some flats.
I have never heard of those pedals. But for that money you can get some Superstar Nano's http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=194, Carbon Cycles Exotic Flats http://www.carboncycles.cc/?p=1116&, Wellgo MG1's http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/well ... elID=44059, and Im sure there will be many more good suggestions. You could get some DMR V8 or V12's aswell, but I found them a bit more bulky.
I have the Carbon Cycles Exotic flat pedals, they are excellent.

EDIT: Damn you guys reply quickly, do some work :P

The Exustar pedals are a nice pedal and obviously a lot lighter than the Nano's and priced accordingly.

Much cheaper, about the same weight, bulletproof and awesome magnesium goodness.

Thanks for your replies, plenty of suggestions. I'll do a bit of a research from all of that.

It was the weight of the Exustar pedals that drew me to those.

A pair of the Superstars are only 80 grams more which I doubt you'd notice in the overall weight

What sort of shoes do you ride with? That will also effect the pedals performance

You'd notice a 25% increase on the whole bike though, so why not start with the pedals!

Ha ha, ej2320 you are probably right, I may not notice 80g. But its a start.

I just use some cheapo MTB shoes, can't even remember how much or where from.

I am not somebody who upgrades alot, but with this bike I thought I would like to give it ago. I know weight is not the singular most important factor but I would like to reduce the weight where I can on my bike with my limited knowledge. I am not sure what other factors I would need to consider when upgarding pedals, I just knew I wanted flats.

Well weigh your old ones and the superstars may be lighter

Grip on the pedals is some that personally I'd find important than weight especially on jumps or I'll ruin my shins

Other easy upgrades to shed weight would be the stem, handlebars or even the wheels

Mg1s are the same weight as the Exustar, cheaper, good grip, decent size platform, good bearings - nothing not to like for £30.

Agreed - also worth a look are Carbon CC Pedals. http://www.carboncycles.cc/?product_code=CC-PED07F&

After reading lots of reviews, threads etc on here I ended up going to Carbon CC pedals as there exactly the same as Super Stars but a few pounds cheaper and in stock, I found Super Star never had any in stock when I was looking for about 2 weeks... Although the quoted size is smaller than SS, they're acutally the same size.
Be warned though, I ordered mine in gold. Unfortunately when they arrived, the gold was very very bling gold ( not to my liking ) their site shows the gold as a browney, silvery gold which would've gone perfectly with my Voodoo Bantu decals....... gutted ! so exchanged them for Orange... Carbon CC customer service was very good and delivery times are pretty fast...

    Cheers

    Those look just like superstars

That's the only problem with Superstar they do sell out of brake pads and pedals due to popularity, they're very good quality and value

But you do get a free packet of haribo with your order ;)

I'm guessing everybody likes the superstar nano techs, anybody tried the thru pin version or the ultra mag CNC ones?

Looking at replacing my V8's and was looking at either the magnesium V8s or V12s to save a bit of weight until I saw the nano techs at pretty much the same weight or the Ultra mag at even less.

Don't think the ultra mag are worth it personally

But would rate either over the DMRs, not that DMRs are bad but because the SS ones are so good
