Tyres for the Yorkshire Dales

Hi,
I live in the dales and ride a lot of xc trails that are mostly rocky/very uphill/loose rock.
My Racing Ralph's are on their way out and I could do with some tyres that are quite light (lots of uphills - my last 22 mile ride had 3000ft climbs) but can handle the loose rocky trails a but better than my Ralph's as they are a bit sketchy. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I'm on tubed wheels on a Cannondale F800 with a Lefty.
Cheers everyone!

Have a look at the Schwalbe Hans Dampf or a Continental tyre, continental are generally good value and they have a good xc tyre0

If your not riding through mud but on hard packed surfaces then consider a small block tread instead.0

You can buy a continental X king for £150

I've had the on-one smorgasbord on both ends for the last few rides and have been really impressed. They work well in the mixed Peak district conditions i.e. slop , wet rocky descents and loamy crap on the tops. They also roll well and at the price they're worth a go.Too many bikes, not all fully built.0

+1 with Nobby Nic TrailStar up front0 -
Thanks everyone - I was looking for specific tyres though like punkatron has done.
Cheers for the rec - that Is exactly what I am after. Sounds exactly like the trails round here - real mixed bag
Has anyone tried the Hutchinson Toro - they seem to be be quite well reviewed. Also the Schwable Rocket Rons look pretty good - but again, not sure about how they would be on rocks etc.0 -
Conti Black Chili tyres are great, as are WTB Mutano.0

Hi,
I ended up going for a pair of Rocket Rons - £30 a pair of folding EVO's from eBay...they look like they have only had a ride or two.
They seem to cope really well with the mixed terrain up here and they were as fast rolling as the Ralphs but a lot more grippy. Best of both worlds I guess!0
