Hello

I have been riding 3 or 4 times a week for around a year now (approx 80miles PW), but in the last 3 months I have developed a really severe pain under my foot after about 30mins riding, its around the 5th Metatarsal

I was told a while ago by a fellow cyclist that my Cleat/Pedal/Saddle set up was wrong and I was going injure my knee, so I made some simple adjustments and since that day I have had these pains, I have tried what seems every adjustment and position available by moving all these items about to no avail. I have tried insoles(albeit off the shelf not custom)

I have since spoken with 4 separate shop workers and they all suggest a professional bike fit before anything else

I have swapped back to flats for the time being

I have an MTB and a road bike but for the moment my focus is the MTB as im doing the L2B off road in Sept

Can anyone recommend someone in the Essex area that is a bit of a Bike Fit Guru that specialises in MTBs, I have had 1 person suggested but I know 1 would be only his 2nd client and that worries me slightly

Cheers

J3

sorry are you going to be sat on your backside for hours on a time? then use the road bike and maybe get a fit for that.

a fit for an MTB used as n MTB is a waste of money. as you are never in the same place.

I have swapped back to flats now and have Zero pain, just completed my first 100km ride with no problems, but I like being clipped in, or at least I did until they started to make my feet feel like they are trapped in a vice

OK, I have tried literally hundreds of times to get the same set up and cant, I have spent umpteen hours roadside and in the garage trying every position possible, with the obvious exception of the correct one, the soles of my shoes have so many marks and imprints from the cleats its ridiculous, and no....I did not mark them all before I started moving them as I did not realise the repercussions of my actions

I spoke with he chap today and he suggests a foot specialist first before seeing him, which seems pretty honest

Are you using the same shoes for the flats? Could it be the shoe and not the cleat/pedal?

Logic is to look at where you have the show over the axle spindle and then recreate it with the cleats.

sounds more like the SPD shoe has a too flexy sole for you.
