Just wanted to wish good luck to my fellow riders tomorrow.

For me this is the end of a seven month Journey, I have done the training, done rides that are harder in fact, dropped 2.5 stone and cant wait, in fact nobody is more surprised than me that I am ready. I didn't get in the ballot but got a charity place with beating bowel cancer which my Father died of and my Mother is battling and raised over £2k. I capped my training rides at 95 miles so tomorrow is my first Century and based on my training average speeds I am hoping to do it in 6 hours 10 (not bad I reckon for a 16.5 stone lump!)

For everyone else thats doing it good luck, be safe and enjoy, if you see a big lump in a red and white Beating Bowel Cancer Jersey on a white Ribble Bianco, say hello.

Just got to avoid food poisoning or accidental injury for the next 24 hours!
My biggest fear is that should I crash, burn and die, my Wife would sell my stuff based upon what I told her I paid for it.

Likewise, very best of luck all.

Weather looks perfect, not too hot and even a strengthening wind from the south-west during the afternoon for getting back into London.

Here's hoping no mechanicals, no crashes, and a great day for everyone.
    Is the gorilla tired yet?
  • Indeed, good luck all!

Well done on the fundraising BrindleScoops! Glad you've made a good amount for the charity, it's much more than most can manage. I used up all my fundraising credits on another event earlier this year but I was lucky enough to get in on the ballot.

I'm still not sure I'll be able to get my bike bag onto the train but if I do, I'm starting in the 7:02 wave and I'm hoping to finish in 5:30. My cunning plan is that the amount of participants will provide a 100% wind-shield for the entire duration. I'll be the guy in the black Nuffield Health/Cancer Research jersey riding a black Planet X Pro Carbon with mismatched wheels.

I will keep my eye out, though you star 16 minutes before me and ride faster, so I might see you in the Bar! :D

The ride should be no problem, weather looks perfect, getting there on time is the hard part ! I plan to take the first 50 fairly easily cos I have never done close to a 100, then go for it on the return leg. I'm starting at 6:54 and doing it with Scope but i'm not wearing the jersey as it's too big.

I'm traveling down to watch the pro teams.

Hope I can get close to the team buses/workshops/riders
  • Well, that was one of the most enjoyable well organised events I have ever had the pleasure to take part in. Well done Boris! I managed to finish in 6.05 with a gammy back wheel, the whole day was fantastic. :D:D:D:D
