Hi all,
Looking at options for a ss cx, firstly to race on - I appreciate thatbthisnis a comprimise, but I am mid pack fodder at best, and currenty race on a weighty hard tail mtb, so comprising any way. I also reasoned that it would be a cheap and easy maintainence race option, as I don't really want to be constantly replacing rear mechs etc. secondly a sscx would be perfect for my commute and so would double up nicely...
So any recommendations? How much is about and has any one raced one? Currently seen the Genesis day one disc and the on one pompino...
Thoughts would be appreciated
Cheers
Chris

I think it's a brilliant idea to cut down the maintenance... you will be advantaged in some courses and disadvantaged in others...
Have you seen the All City Nature boy?

I was looking at the Singular Peregrine with TSP hydraulic discs or a Spot Mod SS which also has a Gates Carbon drive do not even a chain to clean.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX
Race - Fuji Norcom Straight
Sun - Cervelo R3
Winter / Commute - Dolan ADX0 -

Mmmhh, the Peregrine... (he said drooling)left the forum March 20230 -
Never run my Peregrine single-speed (although I might for the winter) and the EBB makes it dead easy. It does however ride very very nicely on or off road not lightweight but quite often the bike I chose and I've got a carbon fibre Focus CX bike and a Bianchi to chose from. For a lot of people it could be all the bike they need it's just very versatile.

It was the versatility that attracted me. It can be a single speed fat tyred winter monster cross, a steel framed races or a tourer. There are even folks running them as flat bar 29ers.
I'd specced it all up and then a Cervelo Soloist frame came up on eBay and I couldn't resist. Maybe next year.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

The last race I did was so muddy it screwed up all my gears so I might as well have been on a singlespeed.0

If you can find one the green Tricross Singles are good, I've had mine 4 years now and won't part with it unless I find something stupidly good and cheap to replace it.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
