Has anyone ridden all around Anglesey?

I mean, all the way around the coast roads?

I'm guessing at the 100 miles-ish.

Cheers in advance, and sarcasm expected from all the forum pros. :P

Sounds interesting, this suggests that it's about 60 miles, but doesn't totally follow the coast.

Myself and missus did it last year. Was 102 miles from just the other side of the bridge in Bangor.

I basically planned a route in garmin connect trying to hug the coast as best as possible; it pretty much worked but some of the 'roads' were a bit cyclocross in places.

the coastal (foot)path is 125miles - theres a run race/ulta called the ring of fire if you want a look at the route for some info.
anglesey is certainly not flat and i can quite easily get 1000ft climbing per 10miles, lots of the little lanes as said above are very rural and rough - many will be dead ends (although i know a few worth going down for the views and a picnic).
I best know the coast line from benllech round penmon point to malltraeth if you want any more info or details on routes.

Have a look at the Tour of Mon http://tourdemon.co.uk/. It is a sportive and has

    Tour Mawr - 103 miles
    Tour Canol - 73 miles
    Tour Bach - 40 miles
Trio'r Tour - Try the Tour. (Not sure about this one)
Tour de Teulu - 6 miles.

Looked at the route for the 100 miles and it follows the coast roads. Looks really good. My only problem is getting to the start for 7am. Not too sure how to do that, B&B, camping, caravan are all possible.

  • I'm doing the Etape Cymru again this year and my sister in-law who lives in Rhyl keeps asking me if I'm doing the Angelsey sportif. I hadn't looked into it before but you've piqued my interest and I may have to do the round the island as a solo effort one day next year.

There are quite a few clubs on and around Anglesey. The group at the go cart track could have been the Cefni Bike Club; they ride as a group every Saturday. Here's a link:

Clwb Rasio Mona also have a few groups at varying levels:

I've been out with both clubs and they are a great bunch. I'm sure they would welcome new members or anyone on holiday in the area.
