Hi Chaps, I posted the other day asking about the GT Zaskar Sport http://www.gtbicycles.com/gbr/2013/bike ... iner-sport
and the Whyte 529
http://www.whytebikes.com/2013/product. ... 37&xSec=51
now id like to throw another into the mix the Genesis Mantle 20 http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/mou ... /mantle-20

The GT retails at £899 but i think i could get this for about £750, the Whyte is £799 but i think i could get this for about £700 (both these i have looked at in the flesh and i like the feel of) and the Genesis is £1099 but i could get this for £730 from my LBS (but i havent been to look at this yet) on face value the Genesis looks like a bargain. What i can make out is the GT fork is about £200, the Whyte £150 and the Genesis £480, my question is about all the other kit on these bikes are they much of a muchness and would the Genesis be the one to go for (if i like the feel of it once i see it in the flesh) your opinions would be appreciated.

PS before anyone say are you sure you want a 29er, yes im sure
Cheers Lee

The Mantle, clear daylight between the spec of that and the other two, better forks, better shifting, better Chainset and BB, better brakes.

    you sure you want a 29er though? ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ha ha, cheers for the help, just wasn't sure about Genesis as haven't taken any notice of them before, just got carried away as usual looking at what all the big brands had to offer instead of the smaller ones also can't find any reviews on the mantle 20 so need to ask on here.

I was in a similar position and had a very helpful response. I like what genesis are about and have been impressed when seeing them in the flesh.
(and am currently waiting for my Mantle 30 to arrive!)

Thanks orange peel, that made a good read defo off to my local bike shop tomorrow to see if they have one in, hope they don't just have a large one though like most bike shops seem to have in stock,
I'm just worried about sizing I think the 17.5 might be a tad too big and the 16 too small I'm 5.9 and just going on the genisis measurements and the other 29ers I've been on their sizing might not be right for me

As 5'11" is average height, at 5'9" logically you need a small not medium......5'9" and riding a 16" (26" HT).

Nothing beats trying one on for size though!

My last bike was 17 inch and was perfect fit for me although this was on the 26 inch wheels, I ve tried the a trek cobia 29er 17.5 inch and and that felt massive but in the same shop tried the small 17 inch White 529 and that felt just right, so my thinking is the 17.5 Genesis will be too big although comparing measurements the top tube on this is slightly smaller than the Whyte 17 inch frame, my only concern is if they haven't got the size I want in the shop for me to try. Fingers crossed they have the small and medium in but I doubt it.
