Hi all,

A friend and I are looking at a mid week trip to Wales in a few weeks the dates will be 22nd to the 24 of Aug however I am just after peoples opinions on locations. To keep the cost down we will be looking at camping unless anyone knows of any cheap B and B's in the area.

Cheers,
Dan

    Will you be driving?

If so cwmcarn on morning 1, then drive to Afan - about a 40 min drive. Do the Afan skills/jump park in the afternoon. Camp at glyncorrwg (afans other trail centre).

Day 2: ride the wall and whites level at Afan - it can be done as 1 loop called w2.

Day 3: not sure where you to camp but go to the opening day of bike park Wales at gethin. About 40 mins drive again. There's campsite recommendations on the bike park Wales site.

Thanks for the reply, I didnt know the bike park was that close to opening I will have to look into that. There will be 2 of us both driving since we live opposite ends of the country so would ideally like to be based on one site for the whole time.

Ah ok then. When you say opposite ends of the country? Will you both be coming down the m4?

My friend will be coming down the M4 however according to google maps I will take the M50 then A roads to get to Afan. I will be travelling from the north, Hull to be exact if you know a better way.

Me personally, I'd probably still go down the m4. You can come down the m50 and then go across the heads of the valleys rd past Abergavenny, Merthyr etc but I doubt there's much difference in time.

yeah that's the place. even though they call it afan for everything, there's 2 visitors centres, afan and glyncorrwg. the campsite is at glyncorrwg (which is about 2 or 3 miles up the rd from the afan visitors centre)and all the trails except the wall start from there. :D

café, decent showers, toilets etc, bike shop on site
