Triple shifter on double chainset. OK?

Hi

I'm selling a triple shifter (Shimano 5703) and one of the prospective buyers wants to know if it can be used with a double chainset (Ultegra). Has anyone done this, and if so how do you set it up... 'empty clicks' after up shifting to big ring, or downshifting to smaller ring?

Yep it can be done no problem.

To avoid risk of damage to the shifter by overloading the ratchet mechanism, set it up so the unused shift is at the bottom end (i.e. extra slack cable).
