9 speed groupset?

Hi All,
I have what is a fairly old Barracuda Squadra road bike which I am currently restoring and want to buy a complete new groupset. I currently have a an 8 speed setup on there, but the question is would a 9 speed be ok? I'm struggling to find a groupset which has 8 speed, but 9 speed seems more common.
Thanks!

Yes it will, but of course you need to replace the shifters if they are indexed and you need to check if your rear freehub is the later 8 speed one, which will take 9 speed too. I am assuming you are talking Shimano?
There are still 8 speed spares around, should you wish to keep it like thatleft the forum March 20230 -
Yes, I am planning on replacing everything including the shifters, so that isn't a problem. Yes, it is Shimano. I have replaced the rear wheel compared to the original older one, so hopefully it is a newer one. Is there an easy way to check?
