Specialised HardRock 2000
I've had it since I was young but I still fit on it - I'm planning on getting out and doing some trail riding in the country at the weekends. Was initially thinking of just getting some suspension forks for it as my arms used to turn bright red and itch from all the vibrations when riding of road, but I've started to question whether I should just sell it and get a new bike altogether, since in 13 years time surely I could get a far better bike than this one including forks for not too much money? :?
Like I said by no means am I an enthusiast or will be riding the hell out of it, just riding around of-road at the weekends.
Any advice appreciated 8)

How about this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499
Does it have 'hydraulically damped forks' though?0 -
Probably not. A fork upgrade for the Rockhopper would be a good bet. This will do the job nicely:

Do you mean for my current bike, or for the Carrera?0 -
For your Hardrock....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

That is what SS is suggesting, I was clarifying....
I see no reason it won't take a suspension fork though, perhaps Chunkers can confirm why.....it will need confirming it is 1 1/8th steerer but as it's ahead and MTB it would be very unlikely it wasn't.
Personally I'd get a Vulcan or Bantu though.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Well, can you buy a suspension fork with a very similar A2C of those current ridgid forks.0

I don't know, can I...? How do I go about figuring this out?
If I can I'd prefer to just get some forks as it would be cheaper and I wouldn't have to faff around with trying to sell this one...0 -
Measure the a2c of your current ridgids and then see what's about looking at info on makers websites.0

Found this: http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Imag ... k%20FS.jpg
Says 1 1/8"
Are there any other factors I ned to conider before going ahead and getting some forks?0 -
So it could come with forks with say 65mm travel. But you still need to check the a2c with a tape measure and see what's out there that is very similar.0
-
Which length is the a2c?0

Don't worry about it, those forks will be fine, as well any 80 to 100mm travel forks.0
