Apologies for starting another bar tape thread, but i really am in two minds about the new bar tape for my bike.
The is a Beone Diablo Race, and the frame is white with red highlights and gear cables ... White saddle.
It came with white bar tape which now needs changed and i can't decide between red or white - or one red and one white. Please help me decide, lol - but none of this velominati nonsense ;-)

If I'm not mistaken that would be know as a harlequin wrap wouldn't it? Good shout, that would probably look frickin awesome done in red and white, but I'd imagine it would be a absolute nightmare to get it even all the way round, especially when it came to the bit at the shifters - doubt I have the skill or patience for that.
When I decide to wrap the "white" bar, I might give it a shot.0 -

I don't really know how this is called in english but looks great. I had done it on my previous bike's handlebar (I had done it with green and blue tape and looked super!) and I'll do it again on my trek, ( but later as my friend gifted me a very nice new tape and I wait till this wears out. Then I'll make the cross check pattern again).
Is not that difficult with normal synthetic tape as with leather, ( though leather feels and is better) and you can see on the video how to do it. The only difference is that you rap the tape from top to the edges and not the other way round.
Give it a try with some cheap handlebar tape if you feel insecure of how to do it. YOu don't need a padded and more expensive tape, as the two braided tapes get a little bit thicker so even the most plain tape does the job. Same with cotton fabric handlebar tape like this( any brand, not only this- cotton tapes have super colors!! )0 -
Sorry, but different coloured bar tape is akin to wearing odd shoes. It looks daft. If you like it fine but I think its a bit too weird. Black all the way for me.0

Red and a red saddle. White nearly always looks dirty and scruffy.Bianchi Infinito CV
