Can someone tell me if my front geraing setup is all compatible????

shifter = Shimano XT SL-M770 3 speed (dyna sys)
Chainset = Shimano FC-M785-S 2 ring (dyna sys)
Mech = Shimano M786 2 speed (dyna sys)

Will the 3 speed shifter work okay with the 2 speed mech?????

Yes you can - but not on those.

It is a pointless feature anyway - just use the stops.

Those were released by Shimano first off before they released the 10 speed properly with a fully revised group, so yes they are proper 10 speed, but what difference that makes on the front I have very little idea.

You need to set the upper and lower limit screws on the mech, this stops the shifter pushing too far.
