    105 everytme - and I have Veloce!

Rear shifting is fine with Campy, but the front is a pain! As you move down the cassette, you have to use a thumb wheel adjuster on the front cable to stop the front mech rubbing the chain. Then have to re-adjust coming the other way. With Shimano the front shifter has a half-position that allows you to add/subtract slack to prevent this rubbing as you go up and down the cassette.
Secondly, I find the thumb button is in a terrible position, so have to move my hand significantly to change gears. The double levers on Smimano are far better ergonomicly.
Also I find 105 hoods FAR more comfy than Campy.

Only downside with 105 (and maybe other Shimano with gear cable running under the bartape) is that occasionally I find that when I try to move the rear mech, nothing happens and the lever flies right through its arc of movement without"catching" the cable. But this is far less annoying than the front mech rubbing/thumb wheel adjusting of Campy.

One day I will ditch Campy and go Ultegra, but then again I'm a MTBer and will probably end up just selling the whole bike. These are just my opinions of riding a Campy Veloce road bike back to back with a 105 road bike and 105 X bike.

    Cheers Harvey

Sounds like your mech isn't adjust properly! Veloce is a solid 10-speed groupset that needs little or no tweaking when fitted correctly, shifts quickly and is fully serviceable unlike 'break and bin' Shimano.

I have veloce. love it runs perfect.

I have a shimano on my commuter bike and prefer the campag shifting vs shimano.

Campag has a button and paddle behind the brake to change gear.
Shimano has a button and the break lever has to be shifted to the side to change gear.

And subjectively, their is always something nice about italian.

Veloce also has a 'trim' function (if required) on the front mech so no need to mess with barrel adjusters as suggested.

Both Veloce and 105 are more than capable groupsets and your decision should be based on YOUR views re: hood shape, shifting mechanism, shift feel and aesthetics perhaps.

I have used both - personally prefer Campag shifting to Shimano but that's just me!

If you can't choose based on feel / appearance, for me the decider would be if you want to do your own BB bearings or get a bike shop to do it. Shimano HT2 is a cheap / easy DIY job, current Veloce is slightly trickier / requires dearer tooling.

Veloce is cheaper and lighter than 105 but as said BB is not DIY friendly. Not a problem for most though as good shops exist for this. Veloce also look better I think.

Harvey it does sound like something's not right with yours.

As others have said, comes down to personal preference, but I'd go for Veloce. Shifting and braking to me seems superior, and the brake lever gear shift thing on the Shimano shifters freaks me out!

I have 105, but that's because I wanted a triple which at the time Camapg didn't do. If I was choosing new kit now I'd probably go Campag. It just looks so much nicer. And happily pay a bike shop to do the BB if needed.

Rival (sorry), followed by 105. In fairness I have very limited expereience of campag though.
