Hi Boys and Girls

I am looking at getting a new bike as found out my Trek Alpha 1.5 (Now up for Sale) is a size too big for me :(

As stated in the title I have it narrowed down to 3:-

Giant Defy 1 (2014) = £ X
Trek Madone 3.1 (2013) = £ X + £150
Trek Madone 3.5 (2013) £ X + £450

Looking for people's opinions on what to go for and also people's feed back if they have any of them (recommended upgrades or known bad points)

Thanks in Advance.

Pacey

it's always useful on these types of threads to give people some idea of the kind of riding you do...

As it is on sale and you know how well made Treks are then go for the Madone 3.5

I own a Defy and it is a very good bike but that Evans price of the 3.5 is very hard to beat.

Do people think that i would really notice the difference between the 3.1 & 3.5? I think they both have the same wheels so surely the £300 i will save on the 3.1 would be better spent on an upgrade in that department?

With regards to 3.1 or 3.5, aside from slightly better components on the 3.5, it also has a 11-28 cassette whereas the 3.1 has a 12-30, if that makes any difference to you... But yes, sensible head would say save the money and go for the 3.1.

Have you sat on both the Giant and the Treks though? They have different geometries, ultimately the Madone is more aggressive and the Defy is geared more towards longer distance comfort, hence longer head tube, so that'll give you a more upright position.

    Thanks Jack

Yes the 12-30 will prob help that little bit more with climbs. Ride style prefer something a little more aggressive as still class myself as a youngster
