How much of an upgrade are 9 speed deore shifters from the stock alivio ones that came on my bike? Is it an upgrade worth doing? Bear in mind someone gave me £30 in halfords vouchers so it will cost me about £15

Thanks guys, will find something else in halfords to spend it on then. They have an xt shadow rear mech for £47 online but I can't spend vouchers online, might see if they will let me pay in store an order it for me

Can't you reserve and collect and get the cheaper price?

I wouldn't buy that either unless something is broken.

I don't know what tools you've got, but having the tools to fix things yourself is a much better way to spend the money, than a small incremental increase in quality of your mech.

If you still feel the need make sure you buy the 9 speed one!

Can't you wait until you actually need something?

Nothing wrong with alivio shifters, the action is much lighter than x5 for starters.

If you are desperate to spend your voucher buy tubes, or leeches,or pu it towards some baggies.

Just bought a load of tubes, cables etc, gonna take yeehaa's advice and sit on them! No point spending them on stuff I don't need.
