From a non-aero/speed bias, what are people wearing up top in these crazy heatwave days...

Baselayer and jersey?

I just remembered an hour or so ago that I bought a Podsac Daytripper saddle bag from PlanetX last autumn, which opens up the option of heading out with just a PlanetX short sleeve baselayer up top, puttings keys; repair kit; mobile etc. in the Daytripper.

It would have made a lot of sense to head out the door at ~0600 when it was 16C, but I'm officially getting old, I fell asleep on the sofa for the first time last night and crawled into bed at gone 0430.

Just a jersey for me, although I sometimes wear 2 if I need to carry a lot stuff. Usually that means there a possibility of rain and I need to carry a rain jacket.
I tend to wear my base layers when it’s a bit cooler.

Mesh base layer for me, under a jersey.

I have Ale, Castelli, Morvelo, Rapha, sleeveless and ss, and all perform very similarly.

As mentioned already (many years ago) fit is key.

DHB mesh base layer, but I have a couple of superlight jerseys for 30+ degree temps to pair it with.

Don't like the feeling off jersey seams against my skin without a base layer, plus in very hot weather I tend to unzip my jersey and don't wish to expose people to the horror of my Hasselhof-esque hairy chest 😂

Discovered this afternoon that a cool wet PX baselayer was brilliant for feeling cool in our ~30C lounge for approx 90mins at a time, repeated again just before popping out for a short ride with just the baselayer up top and it was bliss... Bonus that the Daytripper held in place fine and didn't lose anything!
