Places in the Alps to take a beginner/intermediate
Hi
I'm taking a trip to the Alps soon and was hoping to get some riding done when I'm there, although it won't be a riding holiday as such. I'm going with my girlfriend who is not a massively confident rider. She has completed a couple of red graded trails in Wales before, but they were a challenge.
Is there anywhere particularly suitable for more intermediate level riding and not too full on?! We will be in Chamonix so I was wondering if there are any trails there or nearby that might be suitable and hardtail friendly also.
We are also travelling to N Ital , near Lake Como, so anywhere in that region would be good too.
Cheers

Les gets has a good selection of greens and blue DH and a lot of XC and is just a couple of hours from you. about 25 euros a day for lift pass. Also lots of good exploring on road / fireroad to travel from valley to valley easy enough.0

Take a look at Chatel, awesome bike park probably the best now in the Portes du Soleil. Also loads or easy single track and great riding in the Swiss resorts that are linked. We stayed with Mountain air holidays, superb.
You can also get to the Italian Lakes from there as well, about 4 hours from Chatel to the first lake.0 -
Chatel does look wicked, we'll definitely be going there!
What route do you think would be best from Italy? (we're by the lakes now)
I was thinking of going back through Switzerland via martigny to avoid the tunnel/tolls then head to chamonix afterwards, also via martigny, coming from vallorcine direction. Then we could possibly try les gets last on our way West through France.0 -
Yep that's definitely a good route to go. From the Italian lakes you can go over the Simplon pass or the St Bernard and into Switzerland and then along to Martigny and Monthey where you take the road up the mountain to Chatel.0
