Removing an old Stronglight (?) BB.

All,

I am renovating an older 1980's steel frame, it had a triple stronglight square taper crankset and what I assume to be a stronglight BB.

I want to replace the Crank with a double as I'll never use the triple and have another set of stronglights and appropriate BB lined up for replacement.

Trouble is, How do i remove the old BB, I have removed shimano square taper and HT2 bbs but the fitting for this is different?

What tool do I need? I assume an ISIS 8 pin BB tool will do the trick.

I'll Take a pic of the drive and non drive side tonight,

The cranks are off so its should be clear.

I was considering just chucking on a new stronglight crank as there is nothing wrong with the BB, other than I think that the length will be too long for a double.

If 1980s, it will be cup and cone - lockring tool and pin spanner for non-drive side and fixed cup spanner for the other.

Your BB spindle is likely too long for modern replacement - yours is likely to be 115mm whereas current Stronglight models typically take 107mm

Parktool HCW4 and HCW5 - other (cheaper) makes available. Probably best to get your LBS to remove and replace with a modern sealed cartridge type - the stronglight ones are only about a tenner.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Cheers MD.

I think that this is the case having done a bit more research (thanks sheldon). I think it will be easier to take to the LBS.
