£1k-1.2k to spend - Nice Hardtail or Budget Full Susser?

Ok, Ive got around £1000 to £1200 to spend on a new MTB, should i be looking at a nice Hardtail or bother looking at Full Sussers? Im not bothered about having to upgrades minor bits in the future and realise my money's best spent on a good frame, wheelset, fork and (where applicable) rear shocks. Is this achievable in the £1200 budget?
Any suggestions? Should i be looking at the big brands or bespoke elsewhere like Planet X? (who incidently are on my doorstep)........ :?:

Have a look at Genesis or Cotic bikes. Both UK brands and both with good stuff in that price range.0

What do you have now...how about buying a good FS frame and using the bits you have now as the basis of a build?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

What terrain will you be riding?0

I'd definitely get down to Planet X. The new 456 evo 2 is out 8th Aug and it'll be a cracking do everything hardtail. They're pretty sound and will give you good advice even if you don't buy from them.Too many bikes, not all fully built.0

Im more of a roadie so my current mtb is a 12 year old Spesh Hotrock Comp, the bits arent worthy of a nice frame!0 -

Why not look at second hand? £1000-£1,200 will get you a pretty decent bit of kit.....hardtail, or full suss!0

Paulscycles perhaps? I was looking for a full susser recently and they had a couple Giants on there in your price range.
Otherwise ebay. I picked up a slightly older Stumpy Pro FSR from a feller who'd been shafted on an auction for £7000 -

Im not sure i see the point at this price point, plus I'd rather not be potentially inheriting someone elses issues. Im not adverse to buying a previous year or twos model New at a discounted price though.....
Not much in the way of recommendations......0 -
If you can stretch your budget slightly, this seems like a v good deal...

Just to clarify, that wasn't a suggestion, it was in fact the correct answer to your question0

Being a bit old skool im not keen on the idea of a 29er....
Edit: just had a look at the lurcher on the On one website, whats the main differences apart from the wheelsize between it and the 456?0 -
