New bike low budget

So I have been riding a carrera tdf 2011 version for a year.
I have been granted permission to spend £500 on a new bike
Any suggestions on why I can get. Or just upgrade my components?

Save up a bit more money, then in October/November the 2014 bikes will be out and the 2013 bikes will be on sale. You will be able to pick up a bargain.

At that price point maybe the Btwin Triban 5 or the entry level Boardman, the red one. Or go second hand of course! Good advice above about sale bikes too!
