we are going to dorset next month and i was wondering what kind of riding there is around there. we will be staying near swanage so if there is anything close by that would be a bonus.
I don't know enough to make smart r's remarks about peoples choice of parts 'n' things, yet!

Just a coastal ride west will be your best bet.

Coastal rides around there aren't great because it's very up and down along a straight often stepped+stiles waliking paths (not hilly in a good biking way, here a photo of the sort of thing: http://www.geolocation.ws/v/E/2609969/s ... ms-head/en ) thin paths without any decent turns and sometimes overgrown and next to cliffs for most of the way between Durdle Door and Swanage, not decent trail riding.

Can do quite a decent long round-trip from Swanage up Ballard Down to Old Harry, around Arne, up Nine Barrow Down to Corfe, Corfe to Kingston, Kingston to Worth and back to Swanage along Priest's Way.
