Do I leave open to dry or cover with a dressing?

Currently leaking everywhere.

Hydrocolloid dressing eg from Boots. Scabs gone in four days (when you remove the dressing) and no scars. They are brilliant!

Not cheap, but well worth it - they remove any stingy-ness from the wound, and speed up healing. Make sure you get a dressing big enough to allow at least 1cm all round to attached to undamaged skin, so it sticks properly and keeps the liquid that will appear under the dressing. And make sure you clean the wound well first, as whatever you leave under the dressing will stay there for a few days.

Hurts like hell. I had it really deep though, should of gone to a and e to get it sorted. I just left mine open. Got my worst case the day before holiday in Corfu. Ruined the holiday. Was about 5 weeks ago and I still have really bad scarring down my calf. It took 3 weeks for the scab to dissapear and 8 days before the throbbing/burn pain went away.

My advice- follow those ^ guy's advice, and get the proper stuff on it.

    ^^^ this

it'll heal faster and with less/no scarring

letting a wound dry and scab results in slower healing and is more likely to scar

    i've tested both options
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

    Right off to Boots :)

Front wheel tucked on a tight bend that I've done many times with no problems. The road was very slightly damp after an overnight shower so perhaps after the heat wave it was a little greasy.

Now looking for tyres with more grip.

Melamine? Surely you mean melolin? Unless you really do use imitation marble kitchen worktops to dress your grazes?

For the treatment of the last dose of road rash I was given a box of Hydrocolloid dressings and told to return those left over to the surgery but 5 managed to escape before I returned the box.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Hydrocolloid dressings are the way to go if you can afford them and can keep the wound area dry(ish). I usually end up going old school with gauze and anti-septic cream as I can just change the dressings after a shower rather than worry about keeping it dry
