Maintenance for beginners.

Hi everyone, I have had two or three mountain bikes in the past, but have always gone for cheap ones (last one was a Carerra Subway).
I have decided to go a bit more upmarket and have got myself a Boardman MTB Comp. I want to be able to do my own maintenance and repairs, but I have very limited knowledge on the subject.
Can anyone recommend any books/DVD's etc or even websites where I can learn from without costing me a fortune?
Many thanks, Chris.

I was just on my way to ask the same question! It seems there is a never ending supply of products to clean and maintain your bike and was wondering what is must have?0

None. Some soap and water. Bit of light oil for mech pivots etc, and chain lube are all that are strictly necessary.I don't do smileys.
