Don't use grease or lube on a carbon post, use carbon compound, e.g:

As above never use any lube or grease.
I have used this stuff, unless your building carbon bikes this will last you a lifetime:

Theoretically, some posts might absorb grease and suffer damage. In practice I suspect you'd get away with it in many cases but since carbon specific products exists I'd advise using them.0

Carbon fibre seatposts/frames can crack if tightened up too much. By adding grease to the post, you reduce the friction between the post and the frame - meaning that you have to increase the clamping force needed to stop the seatpost slipping down.
A carbon paste (such as Tacx/Finishline) is still a grease, although it has small granules within it that creates friction. This means you can use less force at the clamp to stop the seatpost slipping down within the frame. (Which your seatpost and/or frame will thank you for.)
You can also use it on normal alloy posts with no issues.0
