Alfine 11 / Gates Belt Drive

As an old plodder who keeps both wheels on the ground, I've just snapped another derailleur in the local woods.
Does anyone have any info on the Shimano Alfine 11 hubs, good or bad.
Also the Gates Belt Drive system.
I've read articles and tests but they all seem to be a couple of years old. Looking for up to date info.
Most of my riding is now either on roads or fire roads.
Cheers.

Works, yes, very heavy and pricey (and hasn't changed in 2 years, so no new reviews), cheaper to avoid breaking the rear mech!
Belts are not lasting as long as they should (no longer than chains, few threads in the commuters forum) and I wouldn't want to do much offroad with a frame with a split stay for a belt, so I'd stick with a chain even if I did go hub geared.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

Thats what I was thinking. In five years of fairly aggressive riding I have only broken one rear mech and I broke my frame at the same time :shock:Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
