Possibly a stupid question

I have a Giant Defy 4, and want to fit a water bottle and carrier, on the down tube there is a mounting place for it with 2 black bungs fitted in the frame, do I remove these first and if so how they just look smooth all round, and then screw the carrier into the holes behind the bungs? sorry for such a stupid question just dont want to damage the bungs removing them if not needed.

    the 'bungs' should be screws, typically with a hex recess in the top, if not, no panic you can always get a couple separately, but if they are rubber bungs just pull them out
