Gripshift shifter compatibility

Due to a serious injury to my left hand (severed the nerves and tendons to my thumb) I can no longer operate the left hand thumb shifter on my MTB. It is an XT shifter operating an XT front mech, all 2006 spec.
I need therefore to swap it out for a gripshift syle shifter. Am I correct in thinking that the pull ratio for all front mechs is the same and thus I can use any gripshift left handed shifter? I am looking for something at a similar price point/quality to XT
Any advice appreciated, Cheers

Yes most will be fine."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

The SRAM X0 are a nice piece of kit, but almost any higher end SRAM stuff will do, the '9 speed' ones have micro-indexing which basically allows you to tweak it on the fly, the '10' stuff doesn't, some prefer it some don't.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
