An unexpected hazard and additional impediment to my hill climbing - melting asphalt sticking to my tyres and covering them in grit. Not to mention slowing me down further; if that's possible. :)

Phew! What a scorcher.

I had that a few days ago, light sticky coating picked up by tyres and then all the small chuckies, dust / debries sticking to it. Made an interesting noise when cycling along.

Had exactly that yesterday climbing out of Sennybridge towards Cray, sounded horrible as stones scraped between tyre and frame/forks. This was shortly before standing up to crest the hill only to instantly get cramp in both legs which preceded to lock solid. I had to execute a controlled crash into the verge. Funny now, but miserable yesterday.

Extra traction on the way down, makes a nice satisfying, popping, squelchy, tearing/peeling noise but I'm glad I've got decent tyre clearance.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
