Used to make me laugh, the names they give products just to sell them.

I really don't see a problem with that.0

Its 30 quid! Its not like they are using the name to ramp up the price.0

Only a matter of time before Sagan is seen on one popping a wheely.0

Alihisgreat,
What UCI pro team uses this bike?
I'm going to produce any old tat, paint it yellow and stick a tour de france label on it. This time next year I'll be a millionaire, Rodney."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -
The fact is that for the age of kids this bike is aimed at, having "tour de france" written on it is exciting, which is a good thing. What's wrong with that? It's not as if they're likely to notice or suffer from the lack of a pair of zipp tubulars of full Di2..
It would be pretty sad if something as iconic and universal as the TdF was copyrighted up to the hilt and you weren't allowed to name a kid's bike after it.0 -
Given that they've used the actual TdF logo and this is Wiggle, I'm guessing someone has actually paid for the rights. ASO guards this stuff pretty closely.0

You have to pay for the rights... good luck going on Dragons den and getting them to invest in your TdF merchandise venture.0 -
Yup, actually now I look, if you zoom in you can see "official TdF product" written on the chainstays (can you call them chainstays if there isn't a chain?)0

End selling point doesn't matter. Fact is that people will buy this due to the name link.
Marketing is an amazing think, people will buy any old tat if marketed right which is proven time and time again on the likes of eBay etc.
If you were pretty broke and all you could muster was a few hundred quid I would suggest going to some stock auctions and buy cheap tat, quick turnaround items and open an eBay shop.
If its cheap enough for people to buy without thinking a d you can turn a profit your into a winner.Living MY dream.0
