Time trial bike - internal cabling - holes
Hi people.
Wonder if you can help. Inherited a black carbon time trial bike (brand unknown, but could be a Planet X unbranded one?) some time ago and just getting round to building it up. Just looking at the frame, it appears to be internal cabled, but the "holes" where the cables go into the frame are too large for normal cable ends - they would just disappear down the hole.
I'm thinking that it can't be that it is intended that I run cable inners all the way down inside the frame - but are there some sort of frame "grommets" that haven't been passed to me?
I'll try and post some pictures of the holes - any tips/advice gratefully received.

You run the outer through these. If you want an adjuster, you'll need an inline one.0

I think the holes are too big for cable adjustors - they would disappear down them.
So is the idea that I run full length cabling from the shifters/brakes down through the frame?
What stops the cables from rattling on the entrances to the frame?

Rubber doesn't really rattle... there are a number of cheap solutions in case it does... mostly involving insulating material.
It's a TT bike, it should be used on silk tarmacleft the forum March 20230 -
Mate you need to run the whole outer cable through The holes, if you cut the cable
Into 2 pieces and one out of the brake/gear housing to the anterior hole and the one from the posterior hole to the brakes/gears you will end up with non functioning brakes as the friction will not be consistent along the cable. I learnt this the hard way!! So push the outer cable through the frame especially for the brakes, sometimes for the gears the holes are different sizes compared to the brake holes and then you will come across a hole in the down tube where the cable can't pass through- don't force it just cut this to size, and put a cable sheath on the end, feed the gear wire through and then feed to either front or rear mech, usually the rear mech cable goes internal again at the bottom bracket, where it comes out again at the rear axle, put a cable sheath on cable push it into hole and then put another length of outer cable from the hole to the rear mech- finish the cable off with another end sheath as you push it into the rear mech adjuster barrel.0 -
Thanks all.
Just trying to thread the cables now. Coat hanger, cotton thread and bucket of patience at the ready!http://www.georgesfoundation.org

Long nosed pliers often work best or thread and a Hoover to suck the thread through is also a good way of threading it through.0

Add a torch and a good deal of patience and I currently have a load of outers sitting in a frame ready for building. Hope I don't have to do that again in a hurry!http://www.georgesfoundation.org
