Convert a MTB to have CycloCross wheels

I am doing Rat Race's Coast to Coast Scotland in September and I have a 2009 Rockhopper Pro, from the reports of the paths for the biking are best suited for cyclocross bikes rather than XC MTB and I wanted advice, should I change the tyres or the full wheels. The specs are below... Thanks for your help! B

Rims:
DT-Swiss 445D, 26", double wall disc, pin joint, eyelets, 28/32h
Front Hub:
Specialized Hi Lo, forged alloy, double sealed, ground race, alloy QR, 28h
Rear Hub:
Specialized, forged alloy, double sealed, ground race, cassette, QR, 32h
Spokes:
1.8mm (15g) stainless
Front Tyre:
Specialized Fast Trak LK Control, 26×2.0″, 60TPI, aramid bead, 2Bliss ready
Rear Tyre:
Specialized Fast Trak LK Control, 26×2.0″, 60TPI, aramid bead, 2Bliss ready
