Genesis High Latitude 1x10
97th choice

Looking for a 29er hardtail for XC specific mile munching, commuting and general winter riding. May end up with a solid buy like the Voodoo Bizango but quite fancy something a bit left field like the high latitude 1x10 or even the fortitude single speed. Budget under £1k

Any other 'interesting' choices about, or what do people think of the Genesis bikes?

Nothing wrong with the High Latitude - but is all basic stuff. Frame will be quite heavy: add to that pretty low rent drivetrain parts, lardy fork and poor tyres, and I know it would not be one on my shortlist.0

Fair point, I think I'm just toying with something a bit out of the ordinary which means it may not be the best value.0

Any chance of extending the budget? If a fast 29er is what you are after, a step up to £1300 scores this:

Some very nice parts there, hung on that light carbon frame.0 -
LOL on the first!
The on one is nice but out of my proce range, I originally looked at something around the £600 mark that I wouldnt mind riding all winter and commuting on to save the Giant, and I've pushed up to £1k (potentially) already.
Might go back to my original plan for the voodoo, seeing as it seems to be fairly easily converted to SS. Not that I've looked into it in any detail0 -
Evans have a 2x10 at £1,291, this has a better spec for virtually everything -
