I am considering purchasing a Kuota Kharma Evo with Shimano 105 or Ultegra but am just a little concerned about the ride over poor roads as mentioned in the review.
I am a newbie to road bikes and wonder if the Kuota would be suitable for me, I am due to do a 70 mile sportive in October and will be doing sportives in the future, will the Kuota be a suitable tool for the job? Would a Kuota Kebel or Kuraro be more or less suitable? Thanks

I bought one and love it. I think the review is just being picky and wouldn't let it put you off, I have ridden a few mates bikes over the same roads and mine is certainly no more 'skittish' as they describe it. kuraro is a good upgrade if you can afford it but the kharma is certainly a good frame

  • Thanks what wheels and groupset have you got on it?

Ultegra group and spinnergy xaero lite wheels, which are definitely worth the upgrade from the aksiums it comes with as standard

  • Cheers, did you consider the Krysiums?
I am not sure if my local bike shop stock the spinnergy xaero wheels and I am committed to buying from there.

Yep they are good and when you finally want to upgrade they'll make good winter wheels

  • Thanks i will see what they can do for me.
I love the look of the bike it was just the review that concerned me a little but you have reassured me.
  • Hi dmwhite88, there seem to be a few variants of the Spinergy Xaero wheels; are these the ones that you have?

Reviews are very rarely fair though are they and subjective. Just because the reviewer doesn't like something doesn't mean to say the rest of the world will agree with them. There's a lot of press bias towards certain brands be it in the bike industry, cars or whatever and a lot of snobbery. Kuota are great bikes and you really should try one.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
  • Hi guys. Ordered a Kharma last Saturday and due for a retul fit late this week from bike science. I specced it with hopefully sram red as its a discontinued line to make way for the latest version, if not it will be sram force. wheels I chose mavic krysiums, 3T Ergo bars and stem, and chose the black/red frame colour option. It has to be one of the nicest looking bikes out there. I will let you know how it rides.
  • Thanks, I presume that it comes with compact gears as standard, I don't really understand all of the options when it comes to the cassettes, compact etc.
What do you think would be the best for me if I am doing 70 mile+ sportives?
