Hi all

I just travelled back from Marmotte and put my bike on the plane on the way back. As soon as I unbagged my bike at Gatwick, I realised that the chainstay tubing was broken. I wrote to the airline and they have now offered me £1117 for a bike which cost me £1899 - and a quote to fix it was £1409.

The airline have quoted me the following:

In common with most international airlines easyJet’s liability is limited to 1,131 SDR’s (special drawing rights), as stipulated in The Montreal Convention. The current value of 1SDR is 0.987p and therefore our settlement equates to £1117.00.

I've seen a reference to this on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Convention

Anyone had any similar experiences. I'm not very happy to have them admit liability and then not pay the price of a replacement. I'm not trying to get a better bike out of them - I had a good one and I just want it replaced with the same (and I'm missing riding during the best bit of the summer.....  )

Cheers

Jibb
