This weekend, Friday - Sunday, I am taking part in the first UK Police Unity Tour cycle ride from The Police Memorial on the Mall in London to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
Its only around 150 miles. The ride is to remember the police officers killed in the course of their duty and to raise funds for those bereaved. All monies raised are going to COPS the UK Charity to help the bereaved families of officers killed on duty.
Given that I have spent most of my working life as a defence solicitor, defending those arrested by the police, it is somewhat ironic that I am the only non police officer invited to take part in this ride. There are some police officers who would be amazed to learn I was involved in this event.
Any donation, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.
