As a mewbie to biking i have recently purchased a 2nd hand trek 2300, nice bike but tyres look like they may need replacing soon therefore I was wondering what sort of tyres are good for light weight bike and reasonable wear and tear/puncture resilience etc. Current tyres are bontrager with rolf vector comp wheelset.

cheers for any help

I have continental force/attack. I thought they felt better than schwalbe ultremo's . Never had a puncture so far, I had loads with the schalbe's

GP4000's or Gatorskins currently use both.

can gatorskins be used in wet conditions? think i heard gripping issues in really wet conditions. Any experience or advise

You'd have to be pushing it to see grip issues on any of these tyres.

I went for Michelin Lithion 2s in 700x25 and would highly recommend.

Top tip - there is less grip when it is wet.

Whatever tyre you use, care is required on wet roads when cornering and braking.

People claim there are grip issues with certain specific tyres but IME it is normally poor riding that exceeds the limits.
