Does anyone know what type the fork is on a Giant Defy 5? Is it tapered etc? If I was gonna replace it I'm not sure what to look for. Cheers

measure the old one or the frame and compare with the headset standards.

mentioning the year of the frame might help as they have been made for a few years and there may/have been changes. then someone might look it up for you on Giants webby.

You need an Easton EC90SLX. Nothing else will fit.

They only work with Obermayers, so better start saving.
  • 2013? Then it's a standard 1 1/8" steerer. Any fork with that steerer will fit.

I think the defy 5 was only made from 2013 and has a overdrive headtube = tapered
    from giants webpage.
Might be possible to change headset to fit 1/18 standard forks worked for my MTB

Can be a bit of a pain to sort. Just had to replace fork on a Giant Avail due to a cracked dropout caused by bad baggage handlers. Turns out fork was tapered 1 1/8" - 1 1/4" and with an integrated crown race. Very hard to find a replacement and costly plus had to also get hold of a crown race as the new fork was not the integrated one! Had to buy a whole heaset just to get the race. Expensive business.
