Creaking noises - my experience

Hi –
I found this tip on a Cervelo Forum. However I don’t have a Cervelo and I couldn’t be bothered to sign up and say thanks, so I’ve posted my experience here. It might help someone, it might not. Life goes on.
Creaking – Whenever I got out the saddle and powered up hills or a long a flat section my Focus Izalco Pro would creak horribly, from what sounded like the bottom bracket area. I have Rotor 3D cranks and a BB30. Reading some posts about BB30 they seem to be a bit creaky and the BB may need a liberal application of grease. Cool I can do that. So I made my own BB30 extractor/press (search on pinkbike for that), whipped the bearings out, greased the balls out of everything and rebuilt....... It still creaked.......
So maybe I’ve got some duff BB30 bearings? I bought a new set and replaced, again greasing the heck out of everything........ It still creaked.
Ok, maybe some chainring bolts might need tightening? I did that, plus greased the balls of them too.... It still creaked.
Looking at the chainring bolts they seemed different to the “official” Rotor 3D bolts, so I bought a set of them and replaced...... It still creaked.
Starting to running out of ideas now..... So I did a rotor crank search on google and came to the Cervelo Forum. After pages of helpful advice, most of which I’d tried someone suggested the quick release skewers can be a bit naff on the higher end wheels and can creak when under load or power, specifically the rear. I tightened up t rear skewer, and no more creaking! I’m so sure of the noise coming from the BB area. Oh well! At least I have a bike that doesn’t creak with some new components and a heck load of grease.
